The Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Toronto Branch and the Canada-Ukraine International Assistance Fund in partnership with Euromaidan Canada Committee, invite you to “TRIBUTE TO COURAGE” on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 5:00pm.

Join us for a dinner, performance and Q&A with

special guests from Ukraine are: Myshko Adamchak, nickname “Lemko”, volunteer of the medical battalion “Hospitaliery” and a member of the music band “KoraLLi”; Vladislav Kuznetsov, soldier of the legendary 95th airborne brigade, who saved 6 of his fellow soldiers by catching a grenade and throwing it out of the military vehicle, sacrificing his hand.

The event is being held at St. Joseph’s Banquet & Conference Centre in Oakville (300 River Oaks Blvd E, Oakville, ON).

The event is being organized in support of the second mission of the Ukraine Prosthetic Assistance Project http://www.prostheticsforukraine.com planned for March 2016.

The first mission took place in May, 2015 where a team of 6 prosthetists and rehabilitation specialists-volunteers travelled to Ukraine for two weeks and trained 9 local specialists from across the country in fitting advanced prosthesis and working as a multidisciplinary team. Moreover, 6 amputees with the most complex cases at the time in Ukraine, were fitted with electric and body powered prosthesis. 10 more amputees were consulted and two one-day seminars were held for a larger number of specialists.

The first mission was very successful thank in large part to support from: James Temerty Foundation, World Rehabilitation Fund, and Canada Ukraine Foundation, as well as Ukrainian Canadian and Ukrainian American Diasporas.

This past weekend a follow-up by one of the foreign team specialists was conducted in Kyiv on the amputees, who have received their prosthesis.

For the next mission, planned for Spring 2016, we will be working closely with the Government of Ukraine, as well as international organizations and NGOs in Ukraine to train more specialists and fit more amputees.
